One question that many homeowners may have, is just how they are supposed to realize that their air ducts require cleaning in the first place. After all, it is not as though one can simply visually inspect the interior surfaces of his or her air ducts. Fortunately for you, there are plenty of warning signs which may indicate the need for professional duct cleaning.
Reduced Indoor Air Quality: Have you noticed that the air quality in your home is on the decline? Are you starting to feel the effects of your allergy and asthma symptoms flaring up? If so, then you may benefit greatly from having your ductwork professionally cleaned. We can investigate the matter further, and if your ductwork seems to be the driving force behind your subpar indoor air quality, we can take care of the problem.
Decreased Efficiency: Does it seem as though you are paying more than usual in order to operate your forced air HVAC system? If so, dirty ductwork could certainly be playing a part in this. While it is very unlikely that you have a blockage severe enough to prevent air from being distributed throughout your ductwork, it is very possible that your air filters are clogging up quickly due to the pollutants in your air ducts. If you find that you need to change your filters much more frequently than suggested, dirty ductwork may be to blame.
Pest Infestations: Have you had unwelcome critters in your home recently? If so, then your primary concern was probably having that infiltration eliminated. However, you should also give some thought to what those creatures may have left behind. Following the removal of any infestation, it is wise to have your air ducts cleaned out to ensure that the departed did not leave unpleasant surprises behind.

Francis from Nicholson Plumbing and Heating was excellent. He was here to evaluate HVAC in our home. He was very patient and answered all my questions. He is also polite and easy to communicate with him. He explained technical concepts to me in layperson terms!

Nicholson offered what is possibly the best customer service I have dealt with in a home repair situation. I called them because I was looking to replace my very old furnace. They came out to do an initial estimate, and then came back when I had some further questions about my options. After installing the furnace, they ran into some problems with my air ducts. This happened on a Friday, and the problem was fixed by Monday afternoon. In addition to their excellent service, they did quality work at a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an HVAC company in the Framingham area!

Recently used these guys because my HVAC unit AC wasn’t working (first hot day of summer). Showed up on time, wore booties, fixed the unit. During the visit we talked about how my unit was having problems in the winter – which was resulting in NSTAR service calls of maybe 3-4 times per season (I am on a service plan with them). He was the first guy to tell me WHY the problem was happening, and HOW to fix it. I find it strange that all of the NSTAR guys etc. no one took time to point out how to fix the source of the problem…Very professional, smart. I would use them again, and plan to for the fix on my heating unit!
